open mic

last night i went to an open mic @ the baggott inn in the village. i didnt sing, just went to support a friend. a friend who is moving to nashville to become the next country-pop-alicious starlet, but i digress. (ill miss you, girl.)

its amazing how courageous people/artists are in this city. these kids were fully exposed last night, raw, but amped, voices singing about loss, heartache, love, joy, sadness, only backed by their own guitars strumming along just to keep time. no bands, no dancers, no flashy lights, no distractions...just pure talent. well, perhaps i shouldnt say talent universally. some were better than others, or perhaps just more seasoned? who knows.

what i do know is that it got me thinking, thinking about what it is to perform. why do i sing? why do i feel compelled to live this inconstant lifestyle?

things that make you go 'hmmm'....damn straight, c+c music factory

ps. where did my britney go?
